In short
A separate MID meter outside the charge point, for example in the meter cupboard. Since January 2026 the MID meter for ERE must be built into the charge point itself. There is no transition year for private individuals; only businesses that were already booking with an external MID meter before 2026 get 2026 to install a built-in meter.
