What is one ERE worth?
The market value of one emission reduction unit, with its reference date, range and source. This is the figure every calculation on this site uses — not a loose number on a card.

How we set this price
There is no official exchange rate for an ERE. Traders and booking service providers quote their own prices, and those quotes differ. We collect the publicly quoted prices, record the range, and take its midpoint as the calculation value.
That single value is what we use everywhere: in the comparison, on provider pages, in the worked examples and in the knowledge base. No page can quote a different figure than this one — including the Dutch version.
One ERE represents one kilogram of avoided CO₂. How many ERE a charged kilowatt-hour yields depends on the grid mix; we use the standard factor the Dutch Emissions Authority applies. What you actually receive is the calculation value minus market costs and your provider’s commission — and that difference is exactly what the comparison shows.
