Why MID matters for your ERE payout

Three things to know before signing an ERE contract.

What is an MID meter?

The MID directive (EN 50470-3) certifies kWh meters for billing-grade accuracy. ERE only counts a built-in MID meter inside your charger — look for a green 'M' logo on the type plate plus the 'EN 50470-3' standard.

External MID meters drop out in 2027

From 2027 the NEa stops accepting external MID intermediate meters in the meter cabinet. If that's your current setup, plan an upgrade to a charger with built-in MID in time — otherwise your ERE payout disappears from 2027.

Smart readout matters too

Many ERE providers require your charger to be remotely readable (OCPP / cloud link) on top of MID. Without that link you have to upload meter readings manually — and most providers refuse manual uploads.
