About us

Auto-filled profile (draft)

VanHelder from Woerden is a business supplier of electricity and gas, with fixed, variable and dynamic contracts for small and large consumers, and also sells guarantees of origin. With its ERE service, VanHelder takes the whole ERE process off your hands: from collecting your charging data to applying for the certificates, also retroactively. VanHelder does not say who registers the ERE's with the NEa. The service is aimed at business customers: the sign-up form asks, among other things, for the company name as registered with the Chamber of Commerce, the EAN code of the main connection, a description of the vehicle fleet and the back-office system the charging sessions come from, although the page also mentions private charge points. You need a suitable smart charger; fully electric cars and plug-in hybrids both count. No rate is published — VanHelder speaks of a market-based price per kWh — and you receive the fee once you have supplied the required data.

VanHelder is included in our provider overview but was not on the final list of booking service providers the NEa published (version of 7 Aug 2026). One reason can be that a provider works through a registered booking service provider.

Smart charger & MID meter

What is a smart charger?

A smart charger is a charging station that is connected to the internet and can automatically record and report your charging sessions to the provider. This lets the provider see exactly how many kWh were charged and when, and — for some services — steer the charging moment to take advantage of green electricity or lower tariffs. Whether your charging station must also be connected (OCPP, app or cloud) is up to the provider: the NEa only requires that the link with your charging station can be demonstrated — a photo of just a kWh reading is not enough.

A MID meter built into the charging station is mandatory

For ERE registration a MID meter built into the charging station is mandatory (NEa). The MID meter provides an accurate, legally valid record of the charged volume; without a MID meter the kWh cannot be converted into ERE units. The only exception the NEa names is an exclusive allocation point set up by your grid operator, behind which only the charger draws power — rare for home chargers.
