Auto-filled profile (draft)

PowerD from Utrecht is a charging specialist and charge point operator (CPO) that provides charging solutions for lease drivers and employees at home, for company sites and for real estate, with its own management platform and an app for smart charging, solar charging and grid-aware charging. The company started as a joint venture with LeasePlan, was later taken over by Groendus and continued independently after a management buy-out; until then it was called Groendus Laadoplossingen. As an ERE service provider, PowerD turns the kWh charged at private charge points into ERE's: you authorise PowerD, which collects the charging sessions from your charge point through a direct link, checks them, registers them with the NEa and sells the ERE's. You can take part if you own the energy connection at your address and your charge point has a MID-certified meter and can stay connected to PowerD; manually supplied meter data is not accepted. The agreement runs until the end of the calendar year in which you sign up. PowerD pays out the proceeds as soon as the ERE's have been sold and the money has come in, aims for several sales moments a year, and shows in the ERE Portal how many kWh have been registered, traded and paid out.

Smart charger & MID meter

What is a smart charger?

A smart charger is a charging station that is connected to the internet and can automatically record and report your charging sessions to the provider. This lets the provider see exactly how many kWh were charged and when, and — for some services — steer the charging moment to take advantage of green electricity or lower tariffs. Whether your charging station must also be connected (OCPP, app or cloud) is up to the provider: the NEa only requires that the link with your charging station can be demonstrated — a photo of just a kWh reading is not enough.

A MID meter built into the charging station is mandatory

For ERE registration a MID meter built into the charging station is mandatory (NEa). The MID meter provides an accurate, legally valid record of the charged volume; without a MID meter the kWh cannot be converted into ERE units. The only exception the NEa names is an exclusive allocation point set up by your grid operator, behind which only the charger draws power — rare for home chargers.
