About us

Auto-filled profile (draft)

Houvolt from Veenendaal is an electrical installation company that installs charge points, distribution boards and home batteries for private users and businesses in Utrecht and Gelderland, as a Zaptec-certified installer with an emphasis on the Zaptec Go 2 with built-in MID meter. The company explains the ERE scheme clearly on its website, but does not (yet) offer a filing service itself: for the registration and sale of EREs it refers to a filing service provider, and commission, rates or a sign-up page are missing. Anyone who has a charge point with a MID meter installed by Houvolt therefore chooses the filing service provider separately — compare them here.

Smart charger & MID meter

What is a smart charger?

A smart charger is a charging station that is connected to the internet and can automatically record and report your charging sessions to the provider. This lets the provider see exactly how many kWh were charged and when, and — for some services — steer the charging moment to take advantage of green electricity or lower tariffs. Whether your charging station must also be connected (OCPP, app or cloud) is up to the provider: the NEa only requires that the link with your charging station can be demonstrated — a photo of just a kWh reading is not enough.

A MID meter built into the charging station is mandatory

For ERE registration a MID meter built into the charging station is mandatory (NEa). The MID meter provides an accurate, legally valid record of the charged volume; without a MID meter the kWh cannot be converted into ERE units. The only exception the NEa names is an exclusive allocation point set up by your grid operator, behind which only the charger draws power — rare for home chargers.
