About us

Auto-filled profile (draft)

Hegg is an Amsterdam energy brand of The Sharing Group that sells dynamic energy contracts, as a reseller of sister company EnergyZero, and steers electric cars and home batteries smartly. With the Hegg ERE-Dienst you have your charging power redeemed via the Hegg app: you sign an agreement with and give an authorisation to Hegg ERE Diensten, which records your charging sessions, registers them with the NEa, trades the ERE's and pays out the proceeds. In the app you also accept People's Power Plant as the ERE service provider, a concept of parent company The Sharing Group. Charging data is read out through partner Plugchoice: your charger is connected via Plugchoice, your current charging platform keeps working, and only sessions from the moment of coupling count. You must hold the contract for the electricity connection and have a charge point with a certified MID meter; the authorisation runs per calendar year, is never renewed tacitly and can always be revoked in the app. The proceeds are paid out in the quarter after the end of the calendar year in which you charged.

Hegg is included in our provider overview but was not on the final list of booking service providers the NEa published (version of 7 Aug 2026). One reason can be that a provider works through a registered booking service provider.

Smart charger & MID meter

What is a smart charger?

A smart charger is a charging station that is connected to the internet and can automatically record and report your charging sessions to the provider. This lets the provider see exactly how many kWh were charged and when, and — for some services — steer the charging moment to take advantage of green electricity or lower tariffs. Whether your charging station must also be connected (OCPP, app or cloud) is up to the provider: the NEa only requires that the link with your charging station can be demonstrated — a photo of just a kWh reading is not enough.

A MID meter built into the charging station is mandatory

For ERE registration a MID meter built into the charging station is mandatory (NEa). The MID meter provides an accurate, legally valid record of the charged volume; without a MID meter the kWh cannot be converted into ERE units. The only exception the NEa names is an exclusive allocation point set up by your grid operator, behind which only the charger draws power — rare for home chargers.
