About us

Earnergy is a Dutch registration platform that lets private and business owners of EV charging stations earn income from their charging activity through the ERE scheme. Owners of eligible charge points can sign up online and have Earnergy convert their charging data into Emission Reduction Units. The company's own website indicates earnings in the region of €300 per charge point per year, depending on usage. Based on the submitted contract data, Earnergy applies a 20% commission on ERE proceeds with no fixed service costs and pays out on a periodic basis.

An estimate, not an offer: what you earn depends on your consumption, your meter readings and the price at the time of payout. The price used is published with its reference date and source on ERE price

Smart charger & MID meter

What is a smart charger?

A smart charger is a charging station that is connected to the internet and can automatically record and report your charging sessions to the provider. This lets the provider see exactly how many kWh were charged and when, and — for some services — steer the charging moment to take advantage of green electricity or lower tariffs. Whether your charging station must also be connected (OCPP, app or cloud) is up to the provider: the NEa only requires that the link with your charging station can be demonstrated — a photo of just a kWh reading is not enough.

A MID meter built into the charging station is mandatory

For ERE registration a MID meter built into the charging station is mandatory (NEa). The MID meter provides an accurate, legally valid record of the charged volume; without a MID meter the kWh cannot be converted into ERE units. The only exception the NEa names is an exclusive allocation point set up by your grid operator, behind which only the charger draws power — rare for home chargers.
