About us

Auto-filled profile (draft)

ByWatt from 't Harde is a vendor-neutral charge-point operator (CPO) that remotely manages more than a thousand charge points in the Netherlands and Belgium for installers, employers, owners' associations, housing corporations and care institutions: monitoring, remote support, billing and invoicing. ERE registration is included in the mandatory management subscription of €2.50 excl. VAT per month per connector — after a one-off sign-up, ByWatt handles the registration automatically. What the charge-point owner receives from the ERE proceeds is not published, however: commission percentage, payout and term are missing from the website, so ask before comparing. The offering is business-oriented and runs through the management of the charge points; ByWatt reaches private users only indirectly via an employer. Sign-up is via the contact form.

Smart charger & MID meter

What is a smart charger?

A smart charger is a charging station that is connected to the internet and can automatically record and report your charging sessions to the provider. This lets the provider see exactly how many kWh were charged and when, and — for some services — steer the charging moment to take advantage of green electricity or lower tariffs. Whether your charging station must also be connected (OCPP, app or cloud) is up to the provider: the NEa only requires that the link with your charging station can be demonstrated — a photo of just a kWh reading is not enough.

A MID meter built into the charging station is mandatory

For ERE registration a MID meter built into the charging station is mandatory (NEa). The MID meter provides an accurate, legally valid record of the charged volume; without a MID meter the kWh cannot be converted into ERE units. The only exception the NEa names is an exclusive allocation point set up by your grid operator, behind which only the charger draws power — rare for home chargers.
