About us

Auto-filled profile (draft)

Tap Electric is an Amsterdam e-mobility company with a charging app and its own charge card for EV drivers, plus a management platform for charge point owners and installers; it operates in the Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland and the United Kingdom. With Tap Green Credits you redeem the EREs from your own charge point: Tap collects and checks the charging data, and registration runs through its partner Inboekers B.V., an ERE service provider on the NEa list. The service is open to private and business users, provided your charge point has a built-in MID meter and your charging data runs through Tap: the charge point is connected to Tap, or you charge with the Tap app or Tap charge card. You choose a term of one, two or three years; the longer you commit, the lower the commission, and according to Tap that commission covers all costs, including the audit and the sale of the certificates. Payout follows once a year, based on that year's average sales price minus the commission; switching to another provider is only possible once the term has ended.

What does this earn?

A worked example at 2,500 kWh charged per year. That is roughly 832 ERE, at the calculation value of €0.45 per ERE this site uses everywhere.

832 ERE × €0.45€370.13
Market costs (1.5%)− €5.55
This provider’s commission (20%)− €72.92
Net per year€291.66

An estimate, not an offer: what you earn depends on your consumption, your meter readings and the price at the time of payout. The price used is published with its reference date and source on ERE price

Pros and points to consider

Pros

  • No extra costs: the audit and sale of the certificates are included in the commission
  • Choice of term (1, 2 or 3 years); the longer the term, the lower the commission
  • Promises a public ledger with audit results, sales prices and payouts

Points to consider

  • Payout only once a year, after the certificates have been verified and sold
  • Charging data must run through Tap: charger connected to Tap, or charging with the Tap app or card
  • Switching to another provider is only possible once the chosen term has ended

Smart charger & MID meter

What is a smart charger?

A smart charger is a charging station that is connected to the internet and can automatically record and report your charging sessions to the provider. This lets the provider see exactly how many kWh were charged and when, and — for some services — steer the charging moment to take advantage of green electricity or lower tariffs.

A MID meter is almost always required

Regardless of whether the charger is smart or not, an MID-certified meter is almost always required for ERE. The MID meter provides an accurate, legally valid record of the charged volume. Without an MID meter, the kWh cannot be converted into ERE units. The only exception the NEa names is an exclusive allocation point set up by your grid operator, behind which only the charger draws power — rare for home chargers.
