About us

Auto-filled profile (draft)

AFS Energy is an energy-certificate trading house that supports business charge-point owners with registering and selling EREs. The company charges 15% commission on the proceeds — the rate can drop for larger volumes — and there are no separate service costs. Participation requires MID-metered charge points; the service is business-only. AFS offers a free potential scan and onboarding, takes care of data processing and audit support, and sells the units with direct market access. Payout frequency and minimum term are not published. Given its volume focus, the service is most interesting for larger charging portfolios.

Smart charger & MID meter

What is a smart charger?

A smart charger is a charging station that is connected to the internet and can automatically record and report your charging sessions to the provider. This lets the provider see exactly how many kWh were charged and when, and — for some services — steer the charging moment to take advantage of green electricity or lower tariffs.

A MID meter is almost always required

Regardless of whether the charger is smart or not, an MID-certified meter is almost always required for ERE. The MID meter provides an accurate, legally valid record of the charged volume. Without an MID meter, the kWh cannot be converted into ERE units. The only exception the NEa names is an exclusive allocation point set up by your grid operator, behind which only the charger draws power — rare for home chargers.
